Sing Or Get Off The Pot

Amelia always like to sing while she is going potty. It is pretty funny, she doesn't even say words really just sings and sings random sounds. As my mom would say "Sing or get off the pot." No wait, I think her saying went a little bit different.

Denver Zoo

Since the weather had been so nice Amelia and I decided to venture up to the Denver Zoo. We were lucky enough to find a day that our friends were up there too. We had a great time and spent about 5 hours at the zoo on Wednesday.

When we got there and saw our friends, Amelia ran up to Alessandra, they always give each other a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. Then Amelia told her "Alessandra, I love you. It sure is nice to have a best friend."

We got to see the elephant show and ride the carousel and the train. Then we had a picnic and even some ice cream. Amelia especially loved the polar bears. We went to the cave to see them swimming under water. Amelia took probably 50 pictures while we were watching the bears swim. Not many of them were of the polar bear unfortunately. Instead, she preferred to take pictures of all the people watching the bears. I have like 15 pictures of stranger's children grinning and saying "cheese."

Our picnic spot, the monkey habitat (it was shady and quiet, what more could you ask for?)

I finally figured out how to make Amelia take a nap, make her walk around the zoo for 5 hours. She was asleep within 5 minutes.

Build-A-Bear

Last weekend Amelia was lucky enough to get to go on a surprise trip to Build-A-Bear with Uncle Jamie and Kayla. She picked a black dog named Dannons. Build-A-Bear is one of Amelia's favorite places and she is very lucky to have an uncle that likes (and can afford) to take her there. Thank you Uncle Jamie!

Dannons wears shorts, a tank top, a back pack, winter boots and a sun hat. This is Amelia and Dannons ready to go on a walk.

She's A Rockstar

Today, it was nice enough for Amelia to wear one of her new summer dresses. She has been so excited to wear them because she says she is a ballerina princess when she wears a dress. I have also convinced her that you have to wear a ponytail when you wear a dress. I figure this is a good way into tricking her to get her hair done. This is the end result today on our trip to the zoo.

Confidence

Amelia is not lacking in self-esteem at all. Here are just two examples.

Last night she was being a maniac, running and bouncing off the walls, being sassy and getting in trouble. I told her that I was going to cut sugar out of her diet so she wouldn't be such a maniac. She looks me right in the eye and says "But Mommy, I just want to be myself." What do you say back to that?

We were on our way to the library and Amelia is just chatting away in the backseat and she tells me, "Mommy, I love myself. I have pretty hair."

I Am So So Mad

I don't even know what she was mad about but something really got to her last night. It is hilarious and just may remind me of, well, me.

Daddy's Girl

Amelia's usual morning routine lately is she wakes up super early (too early for those of us that go to bed at 4 am, oh wait that is only me) and Philip sets her up with a snack and Sesame Street and she comes to wake me after Sesame Street is over. This is the only way I can get more than 3 hours of sleep a night. Today though, Amelia started crying shortly after Philip went to work. We are talking full on tears down the face, can't catch your breath sobbing. I run down stairs thinking she is hurt but she is just sitting on the couch crying. When I ask her what is wrong, she says she needs her daddy. I told her he was at work and would be home after nap. She wanted to go to his work right that second. She didn't stop crying until we both had shoes on. She cried for her daddy for over 10 minutes this morning just because she wanted to tell him something, she still won't even tell me what it is. What a daddy's girl!

Amelia the Photographer

Yesterday, Amelia asked if she could take a picture with my camera. She really enjoyed taking pictures so she took about 20 of them. She was pretty funny just shooting away. Maybe this will be a new talent of hers. Here is a sample of her work, she just thought these were the best pictures she had ever seen.

Easter

I know that I am a couple days late posting this but better late than never. Amelia really had a great Easter. She woke up and started finding eggs before she even came and woke me up. She had alreay found about 8 by the time she got me. But she didn't peek in her basket. She gets that from Philip, we all know I would have woke up in the middle of the night to sneak a peek. Philip, on the other hand, is not ever even tempted to peek at his presents. The Easter Bunny brought Amelia some great outdoor toys, mostly T-Ball stuff since we are going to sign her up for that this year. Her favorite toy, though, was the chick that laid bubble gum eggs. She didn't even like the gum just thought it was funny how it laid an egg. She loved finding the eggs and made me hide them like 15 times. Later in the day, Philip and Amelia went to play at Grandma Patty's and I got a much needed nap; the Easter Bunny came very early in the morning at 6:30 and I still had to work that night. It was a nice day to just spend as a family.

By then end she knew all the hiding spots, so she said she would just hide and find them herself.

Easter Eggs

Tonight we colored our Easter Eggs. Amelia had a great time. She would only do one row of eggs at a time and she had to do one in each color for every row. She really likes the crayon to draw pictures on them so the nearly all have pictures or names. The first one I did had her name on it and I asked her what it said, she told me it said Amelia because "it is spelled A-M-E-F-J-K". Oh, so close. She is very excited for the Easter Bunny to come hide them tonight. I didn't have any newspaper to lay down so I just put the cups of dye on a cookie sheet and gave Amelia a paper towel. She did a great job, none broke and no spills! I had boiled extra in case she was really enjoying it and we now have just short of 3 dozen hard boiled eggs. My co-workers will be enjoying some deviled eggs on Monday.

She did a great job balancing the eggs on the spoons and putting them in gently. We didn't lose any during the dying process.

No spills or anything

Easter Egg Hunt

Despite the cold and rainy weather today, Amelia and I went to Old Colorado City for an Easter Egg Hunt. I was hoping that the weather would keep a lot of people away but it did not. It was a mad house but we did have a great time. They had a prize table with numbered prizes so that if you found a prize ticket in an egg you won a prize. Amelia was really eyeing a ball popper thingamabob so I told her she had to find an egg with the number 7 in it. So the hunt starts and she starts opening the eggs and throwing them down when they only had candy. I have never seen her turn down candy before. So I had to explain that you just grabbed as many as possible and look afterwards. Amelia ended up with abour 10 eggs. She won a little candy bag from the Mountain Man and she did get a prize ticket but it was a number 6. A lady next to me in line was nice enough to trade us though. She had about 20 prize tickets so I don't think it was nay hardship on her part.

Museum

Last week while Philip was on vacation we ventured up to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Amelia has such a great time there. As an added treat, we bought planetarium tickets to The Zula Patrol. Amelia learned about weather and different planets. The Zula Patrol is on TV on Saturday mornings, so Amelia has really enjoyed that. Thank you to Grandma Kitty for the museum membership, we really enjoy it!
