Cripple Creek Ice Festival

Last Saturday we went up to Cripple Creek for the Ice Festival. It was melting by then so we are glad that we went to visit also. If we drove all that way just for the ice, we may have been disappointed. Amelia and Olivia had a good time playing at Grandma's house, as always, though.

Amelia had the best seat in the house for ice sculpture viewing.

The ice slide. Amelia said she wished it was bigger, she is my little daredevil.

Riding what I think is a bear of some sort.

Immediately after this picture, Nina's head fell forward and she was sound asleep.

Nina

The is one of my favorite pictures of Nina so far. I just love her expression.

After a little cupcake

Nina loves to watch Amelia, she is always so intrigued.

I love the pictures of both my girls together. It can be hard to get them both to be still at the same time though.

Nina is now nearly 7 months old. At her 6 month well check she was 27 1/2 inches long/95th percentile, weighed 14 pounds/14th percentile, and was in the 88th percentile for head circumference. Philip said the big fat head is from the Chavez side of the family. She is starting to eat more and more foods. She is not really interested in baby food, she likes things she can feed herself and chew, banana bread was a big hit recently. She is trying to crawl now but can't coordinate her hands and legs to be under her at the same time so when she is pushed up on her hands and trys to get her legs under she scoots backwards and when she trys to get her legs under first she slides on her face across the carpet. It is pretty funny to watch. Nina is still the happiest baby you will every meet. She shrieks and babbles all the time. She doesn't even cry when she wakes in the morning, she justs talks to herself until I come get her. Nina sleeps in her crib now, she transitioned from the cradle just fine. Nina is just the best little baby and we are so lucky to have her.

Valentine's Day Party

Last week was the Valentine's Day party at school. Mrs. Goodman had lots of activities for the kids, hopscotch was a big hit. And in case you are wondering and hadn't guessed, Amelia picked her own clothes that day.

Decorating her paper heart.

Heart hopscotch

She picked a chocolate cupcake.

And even shared some with Nina. Nina is not a big fan of cupcakes.

Meanwhile

Amelia always has lots of pictures from her various activities and outings. Meanwhile, Nina has been up to this....(see following gratuitous pictures of a pretty baby.)

Dinosaur Museum

It was too cold for the park or the zoo so a couple weeks ago we decided to have a playdate at the Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park. We met our friends. The kids had a good time. We wish it was a little bigger so it could have occupied us for longer though.

Nina checking out the fossils.

She loves to watch the kids run around and play.

They loved this little stage and put on quite a few plays.

Field Trip

The whole class

Amelia's class was studying cooking so Old Chicago generously offered to have the class come and make some pizzas. They walked over and I met them there so I could get some pictures. The boys in Amelia's class thought Nina was hilarous when she was doing her Nina-scream, they would just laugh and laugh. Everyone got to make their own pizza, got a chocolate chip cookie and a balloon. Amelia made hers with pepperoni and sausage and I had pepperoni, onions, and mushrooms. It was a great time.
