Haircut

Amelia got a new haircut on Tuesday. She hates having her hair brushed and absolutely refuses to use barrettes or have a ponytail so the only solution is short hair. It is such a cute little haircut. It doesn't really get tangles and will keep her cool this summer. Now it is not such a battle every morning when we get ready. She usually grabs a frying pan to put on her head in protection from the hair brush, but that is a thing of the past.

Mini-Golf

On Memorial Day, Hilary and I took all the girls mini-golfing and then went to the mall for playing and lunch. We luckily finished all 18 holes and were in the mall before the rain started. The girls had a great time. Although, Amelia and Olivia are still learning the concept of golf. They would nudge their own balls in with about 50-60 tiny nudges and then just grab Hilary and I's balls after our first shot and throw them in the hole for us. That made us get a really great score, since every hole was a hole-in-one. Cyan did really well though, looks like she might take after Grandma Kitty.

This was their favorite hole, we did it about 20 times. Luckily there was nobody behind us.

Cowgirl Amelia

Today Amelia got a special surprise. One of Philip's employees owns a horse and invited Amelia to come for a ride. Unfortuately it was raining pretty hard when we got there and Honey was a little nervous, so Amelia only got to ride for a few minutes. But she wouldn't have cared if it was a few minutes or a few hours, she LOVED it. Honey was even doing a little skittish walk and Amelia hung on tight. After the ride Amelia got to feed Honey a special treat, strawberry marshmallows. It was really a great experience for her. Thank you to Lee-Ann, Kim, and Honey.

Vocabulary

I just asked Amelia if she likes horses. She answered "Yes, they are stupendous!" She has such a great vocabulary it amazes me sometimes.

Swimming

Today was Amelia's last swimming lesson in this session. The teacher gave me Amelia's certificate and said she had the best behavior of all the children in the class. Amelia told Miss Dani "I tried my very best to be a good leader." Miss Dani told Amelia she was her favorite student. I am very proud of Amelia for this. Usually Amelia is not the behavior example but she did a really great job. Her next session of swimming lessons start June 2 and T-Ball practice starts June 3. It is shaping up to be a busy summer.

Why We Love Colorado

This is one of the benefits to living in Colorado. Where else can you see such a beautiful sunset over the mountains?

My Housekeeper

Today I brought some cleaning supplies upstairs to do a little housekeeping, a trash bag, clorox wipes, etc... Amelia loves to have a big trash bag to find all the trash, even if all she finds is 1 pop can, she loves carrying a trash bag around. She may think it is a treasure hunt. The funniest thing, though, when Amelia cleans is her outfit of choice. She always wants to wear gloves, not latex cleaning gloves, just like regular winter mittens. She also usually needs a hat of some kind and usually a pair of shoes or slippers. This was what she put together for our housekeeping duties today. She is wearing a summer dress, her winter mittens, MY winter hat, and a pair of wooden shoes from Amsterdam.

Don't Get Awrestled

Today Amelia and I were on our way to a playdate and at a stoplight we pulled up next to a police officer. We started talking about how police officers help you. She said "Yes they do help me and sometime they awrestle me." I told her that the only arrest the bad people and she said she is a good girl so the won't "awrestle" her.

Swimming Lessons

Amelia has been taking swimming lessons for the past couple of weeks. This is the first time she has been in the water without me. We struggled for the first week trying to get her to sit still and listen to her teacher but she is really doing good with that now. She has even overcome the bad influence of the other little girl in her class, Abby. I am just glad that my child is not the bad influence, in fact, last night she was the only one the teacher didn't have to make sit out for not listening. She is learning the backstroke and freestyle swimming. She will put her whole face in the water and is jumping in without hesitation. She is going to be a good little swimmer I think.

In other news, we signed Amelia up for t-ball. Her practices start in a couple of weeks. She is excited about that.
When we came home from swimming Amelia told me she needed some tape. When I asked her why she said she was putting a sign up on her door and it says "Keep Out!" And so it has begun, I didn't think it would start at 3, I was hoping for maybe 13.

Fun at the Park

Today, we met Hilary, Cyan, and Olivia at the park to play for a little while. The rain cut it short but the girls had a great time.
