Why Pronunciation Is Important

Last week Amelia was running around the house yelling "A whore, a whore." This is the conversation we had.
Me - "What did you just say?"
Amelia - "A whore."
Me "What is a whore?"
Amelia - "You know, like a pirate a whore matey."
Then I explained how it was actually AHOY and the Y was a very important part of that word. Probably the funniest conversation I have ever had.

First Haircut

We decided it was time to get Nina her first haircut, and by "we decided" I mean Philip pestering me that she looked like Cousin It until I caved. She did a really good job. She sat very still, which is something rarely seen from Nina. She does look pretty cute now that the hair is out of her eyes and it is a little less Billy Ray Cyrus mullety.+

Lost Tooth

Last weekend Amelia went to Cyan's birthday sleepover. It was her first sleepover with lots of girls, I think the final count was nine. She had the best time. When they finally decided to go to bed, Amelia lay there wiggling her tooth which popped right out. She just stuck it in her pillowcase without notifying a grown-up. She was pretty bummed to see the tooth fairy didn't come so Hilary called me first thing. Luckily the tooth fairy actually had left the money at our house. She was confused where the tooth was I guess so she left a note saying she would be back for it. This is her 3rd lost tooth. I told Amelia if she lost too many more teeth she would only be able to eat applesauce.

Christmas Day

The girls woke up at a reasonable hour, both finally up around 7:30. Santa was much too generous this year. Amelia said that even though she didn't think Nina would be on the "Nice List" that Santa would think she was so funny he would bring her presents anyway. Most of Nina's presents were dog related and Amelia got pretty much everything on her list. I had to hide the wrapped presents from Nina because she kept trying to open them so we didn't actually have any presents under the tree until Christmas morning. Once we told Nina she could open her presents she completely lost interest and went downstairs to drink her bottle. I guess permission ruins the fun. Then we all headed to Cripple Creek for Christmas dinner. Grandma Kitty got the girls new rain boots, which my girls absolutely love. Nina wears hers (and sometimes her sisters) around the house all day long. Amelia wears her boots everwhere but school since they are still a little big they aren't good playground footwear yet.

All the loot

Nina's favorite stocking stuffer. She stared at it so long we thought she was going to have a seizure or brain damage or something.

Amelia writing a story on her storybook paper from Santa. She wrote the story of Mystery World, the president came to our yard and took her to Mystery World, where everything is a weird color and you can only eat plants.

Christmas Eve

Here are some pictures from Christmas Eve. Nina got a Jack-in-the-box and would laugh hysterically every time it popped up. Truthfully, even a month later she still does the same thing.
